Fly Dubai: A poem of acceptance

Hey, I have a great idea, let’s fly to Dubai

Book the ticket – nice a good price.

Plan and plan and plan!

Get permission for vacation days.

On top of that let’s fly from Dubai to the USA!

After all, this life is full of adventure.

It’s the morning of the flight, I wake up to see: CANCELED.

Breathe.
Breathe.

What about the plans?!

The money…

Vermont…

The ticket to the USA…

This cannot be.

This is not Fly Dubai. This is not what I planned. This is not the glamorous trip I expected.

But then something kicks in:

A familiar voice.

A friend I’ve come to know well.

The voice says: “It will be OK”

“You are bigger than Dubai, America and plans.

In the end of the day it will be OK

God loves you in Israel too.”

In a matter of moments I am back to myself.

Fly Dubai isn’t everything.

What about fly Vienna, or fly Cyprus or fly Mykonos.

I look it up.

Too expensive.

Bad weather.

Flight’s too long.

Again the voice comes: “You will be OK”.

I counter back:

“I need this vacation, I have worked so hard, I deserve this!”

The voice lovingly chides: “You will be OK”.

Fine.

I decide I’ll just cancel all the tickets.

Fly to the USA from Israel.

I will not fly Dubai.

I look up a small vacation in Israel

It will be alone.

My Dubai buddy will just go to work instead.

But it will be OK, I say.

Then suddenly – ingenuity!

Let’s fly during the day.

Let’s switch to the earlier flight.

We can still Fly Dubai!!!

My friend gets permission from her boss to leave work and be on a flight in a few hours.

We will have to run to the airport but we can do it!

I change her flight.

Then I try to change mine.

It doesn’t work.

We call the airline but she got the last ticket and her ticket is nonrefundable and she needs the money and she won’t go alone.

Business Class is available for $2,000. Ha!

It will be OK.

It will be OK.

I believe it

I know it.

God gives me wisdom – even though tickets to Dubai have skyrocketed because of cancellations, I remember the one cheaper ticket I had seen.

So now it’s fly Bahrain and then to Dubai.

A bit of money on a longer connection flight.

Now I’m on a train in Israel.

I don’t know what will be.

But it will be OK.

It always is.

It always is what God meant for it to be.

Because after all it was never that important to Fly Dubai.
